Inspired by new discoveries in neuroscience and empirical studies in the psychology of vision, I formally explore inherently subconscious gestural compositions by using techniques that follow the rules of mechanical and biotic systems. I view these structural abstractions as automatic constructions within a projected space, which is governed by the influence of light and gravity. Influenced by my training as an architect and engineer, my work is an examination of how perceived notions of weight, density and inertia influence the conceptualization and subsequent projection of equilibrium in abstract compositions.
